Refund Policy

E-commerce Refund and Returns Policy

This policy governs goods purchased from Sage & Sea Salt and is in addition to your rights under New Zealand's Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Your Rights Under the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA)

The CGA provides guarantees to consumers that goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, and match the description.

 

We are not legally obliged to accept returns or provide refunds if you:

  • Change your mind (i.e., buyer's remorse).

  • Find the same product cheaper elsewhere.

  • Decide you do not like the purchase.

  • Damage the product yourself.

However, if a product is faulty or does not meet the guarantees, the CGA applies.

Remedies for Minor Faults

If a product has a minor fault (one that can be easily fixed and does not make the product useless), we have the right to choose the remedy.

Our primary focus for remedying minor faults is Replacement or Repair. Given the nature of our handcrafted products, our preferred order of remedy is:

  1. Replacement: We will promptly dispatch an identical replacement product, free of charge.

  2. Repair: Where practical (e.g., in the case of damaged packaging or a small fault in a non-consumable item), we may offer to repair the item.

  3. Refund: A full refund will only be offered if we are unable to replace the item or if the item is no longer in stock and cannot be manufactured within a reasonable time.

 

To request a remedy for a minor fault, please contact us at sage.seasalt.nz@gmail.com within 5 days of receiving your order, with your order number and details of the fault.

Remedies for Major Faults

If a product has a major fault (one that cannot be fixed, is unsafe, or makes the product substantially unfit for its purpose), the customer has the right to choose the remedy.

The customer may choose one of the following:

1.  Reject the goods and request a full Refund.
2.  Reject the goods and request an identical Replacement (if available).
3.  Keep the goods and claim Compensation for the drop in value.

Non-returnable Items

Due to hygiene or the nature of the product, certain items may be exempt from being returned unless they are faulty.
